ESTABLISHED LAWNS
Set the spreader to the appropriate setting indicated. Settings are figured at 3.2 lb per 1,000 sq ft. This provides 0.92 lb of nitrogen per 1,000 sq ft. A lawn typically will utilize 1 to 4 lb of nitrogen per 1,000 sq ft per growing season. Please consult your local county extension service for questions regarding a regular fertilizer program suitable for your geographical region.
Do not apply extra fertilizer or too little fertilizer. Set the spreader to the appropriate setting indicated. Place your spreader on a driveway or other paved surface when filling. This guards against spilling fertilizer on grass. For even coverage, begin walking before you turn spreader to the open position so as to avoid dropping fertilizer in one spot. Be sure the spreader is closed when filling it, when turning to backtrack, or if stopping on lawn.
NEW LAWNS
For newly seeded or sodded lawns, we recommend SCHULTZ SUPREME GREEN STARTER FERTILIZER to help grass establish a good root system.
